VBS

Tonight was our second night of Vacation Bible School. We went from 11 kids in our 4-5 age group last night  to 15 kids tonight!  The theme this year is "God's Celebration Park." where each night the kids visit a different holiday! Last night we visited Thanksgiving...

And tonight we celebrated "Birthday Island"complete with a little luau...

Breaking open the gift of life...
It was a fun night!  Although, I am thoroughly convinced that you have to be a saint to work with a group of little kids each and every day!  I will never take for granted a teacher after being a volunteer for 2 years now in the 3's room and now the 4+5's room. The kids were full of energy and it only increased as the night went on!  But I do love it! It is a great time spent with just Christian and I, while Dad and Bryleigh hang out at home.

This year's VBS offering is for World Vision Plumpy Nut. Plumpy Nut's are packets filled with protein, calories, vitamins, and minerals.  Two packets a day for two weeks are enough to nourish and rehabilitate a starving child.  Each night the offering taken will go this mission. It is a great mission and it has a fun name too!

Tomorrow night we are on to Easter Celebration!

Seeing through New Lenses

I went to the eye doctor last fall to be tested for Glaucoma since it runs in my family. Thankfully, I am Glaucoma free but I still need to be tested yearly since I have a very probable chance of developing it eventually. While I was there, I had a refraction so that I could see if I needed glasses. Surprisingly, I only need reading glasses.  When I was a child I was far sighted and needed glasses.  I have some very hideous picture of me with my big ole' glasses that magnified my eyes times 10.  I am so thankful that technology has come far enough that the glasses are not fashionable and my eyes do not look like alien eyes.  So in my attempts to purchase some cheap reading glasses which you can find in most stores, I could find no frames that I cared for.  So I spent the money to get prescription glasses from Shopko.  I spent an evening trying on every pair of frames that they had (or at least that is what it felt like) and after opinions from the hubby and my mom, I picked a pair out and ordered them.

So far, I love them!  I can see so much better while I am studying and I actually feel confident in them and not self conscious as I did when I was in grade school!  It was well worth the expensive price tag!   Those of you who have vision insurance sure are lucky folks! But in the meantime, I will continue to study away while on our camping trip this weekend using my new glasses :)

The Love of our Lives

To my wonderful, kind hearted, self less, caring husband, Happy 7th Anniversary!  I cannot believe that we started dating 7 years ago. God sure works in miraculous ways!  To think that while we were only friends in high school, we would meet up again unexpectantly after graduation and marry less than 2 years later!  We have come so far, and I can't wait for many decades together!  Oh, the memories that we have shared!

As much as I appreciate all that you do, so do our beautiful kiddos! Although a tad bit late, we finally finished our Stepping Stone for Dad!

Story of my life

These days, I have spent the majority of my free time studying, well at least the free time that I have when I am not playing with the kids. One month from today, I will be in Student Orientation followed the next day with an exemption exam. I am studying very hard in hopes of passing this exam so that I can delay my start of school.  The following week, I will have another exemption exam. If all goes as planned I will pass out of both of my first semester classes (High hopes, I know!) and I will delay my classes starting until January.  So books, books, and more books have been the story of my life these days...

I'm almost finished with this book and so far, it is very interesting.  I am learning lots but now I just need to retain all the information I am putting in!

On another note, I am having a debate with my hubby.  We have very differing view points so I need input from my blog friends!  So here is the big debate...

When it comes to naming your baby, is there baby name etiquette a person should consider when choosing a baby name that a friend or acquaintance has named their baby (in particular when it is a unique name?)

I'm not going to tell you my viewpoint but I would appreciate any thoughts... because it just might help me get over my grudge :) (Did I give it away? Ha!)

2 Little Monkey's

Bryleigh is at such a fun age right now.  She is constantly learning new things and she is growing ever so much these days.  I have to share our bedtime story tonight, "5 Little Monkey's jumping on the bed."

I just can't get enough of her cuteness!

Time out for the Pool

After church this morning, to which I must just say that both kids did absolutely amazing at, I spent all morning and into the early afternoon pricing, hauling, and setting up garage sale items. You just never know how much stuff you have to get rid of until you are actually doing all the work.  Thankfully with the help of my mom, we have all of it accomplished now but I'm sure that I will add a few things here and there.

We did take time out this afternoon to head to the pool with our friends...

Bryleigh, Chloe, and Carley

Wyatt and Christian
It was an end to a fun weekend. Now this Momma is off to a very early bed time since I have a horrible headache that I just can't seem to shake off.

Carley Turns 7

This afternoon we had our friend's daughter's birthday party. Carley turned 7 on Wednesday and they had her party today. Thankfully, Bryleigh took a 2 1/2 hour nap before we left so she was in a great moon for the afternoon fun!

The plan was for all of us to head over to the birthday party, but Bryan's uncle stopped over this afternoon.  Uncle Kevin is helping us finish up our electrical wiring in our breezeway and garage since we recently had our final inspection. (If you are wondering, Yes, this indeed the final inspection from our garage addition over 2 years ago!)  our inspector gave us until August to complete the project.  So Bryan and Kevin worked their butts off in the heat today to finish up.  We owe Uncle Kevin a nice steak dinner or two for helping us out.  He saved us tons of money for not having to hire out an electrician.

This is really exciting to us since we have never had a ceiling light in the breezeway. For a short time, we used a cheap Walmart lamp (you can see it in the bottom picture) but since the garage addition we have had no electrical in the breezeway, therefore we had no light.  It makes for many stubbed toes and wall bumps coming in from the garage after dark. I might even hand a picture or two on the walls now!

In the meantime,  while Bryan was working his hiney off, the kids and I headed over to help Carley celebrate!

Bryleigh loved the slip and slide...

But our stubborn, strong willed little boy refused to put on his suit and wanted no part in getting wet.  Who's child is this...its 87 degrees outside?!?

Bryan never made it over to the party since they didn't even finish up until after 9, but he was very relieved to have one thing crossed off the list.  Now we only have to do a few minor things such as put up a few sheets of drywall in the garage as a fire precaution and put a few electrical covers on the outlets and then we can get the City Inspector off our butts!

And just to share a few cute pictures from last evening at the park and at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

Christian and Bryleigh love Grandpa's new boat...
