Play Ball

Yesterday evening was Christian's first T-Ball game of the season.  Christian has been in T-Ball for the past 3 years and I look forward to this time of year.  There is just something about watching my little boy play baseball! I actually wish the season was longer than only 6 games.

After having only 1 practice (one other practice was rained out), the Cubs did great!  My favorite part about this year is that Bryan is the assistant coach.  If you have been following my blog for long, you know that we met our great friends, Tammy and Travis, last baseball season as they coached Christian's team!  Well, lucky for Christian, Travis didn't even ask if Bryan would coach, he just added him on the roster as coach :)  Since Bryan has never been a baseball fan, this is big for him.  He is learning right along with the kids! And Christian is loving that his Dad is coaching!

Bryleigh wants so badly to play also!

Christian was scheduled for another game tonight but unfortunately it was rained out.  We are hoping that they schedule a make up game!  So for the next 3 weeks, you will find me cheering on Christian while eating some popcorn and sipping on a slush puppy!

Flowers are Blooming

Now that the weather is finally starting to get warmer and we have been outside enjoying the weather, I have noticed that all of our flowers are starting to bloom.  I love this time year since our yard looks so pretty!

Just as we were about to put the kids to bed for the evening, Grandpa and Grandma stopped by for a quick evening visit.  The kids had a few minutes of fun in Grandpa's BMW!
Now its time for bed for this tired girl!

Another School Year Comes to an End...

Today was Christian's last day of Kindergarten (tear!)  It is amazing to think of how fast this year flew by. It seems like just a few days ago I was taking my baby boy to his first full day of school and now we have ourselves a soon to be 1st grader!  I'm sad that the school year has come to a close but I'm also glad that we successfully made it through this milestone considering how emotional I was on that first day of school!

Christian's teacher, Mrs. Pierzchalski, was amazing!  Christian told me that he is sad that school is over because "she is such a nice person."  She taught Christian so many things this school year!

Christian was very excited for his last day of school, he couldn't wait to get going this morning, but not before Mom captured a few photos!

Our little 5 year old is growing up into a young little man!  I'm so proud of how far Christian has come this year.  I love reminiscing on our growing boy so I will share with you Christian's first and last school day's since Preschool...

Congratulations Christian, you are officially a Kindergarten graduate :)

Big Changes Ahead

This week has been bittersweet.  It is with much sadness that I resigned from my position at Norwood Health Center after having worked there for almost 3 years.  Although, I love my job working in the mental health field, I am tired of my 45 minute commute to work. After the winter that we had this past year, I was ready for a change.

I accepted a position working at Portage County Health and Human Services as a Special Needs Social Worker. I applied for the position in May and was called for an interview a few weeks ago.  My interview went amazingly well considering it was in the midst of my Grandma being diagnosed with a  brain tumor.  I was shocked that I was offered the position since this was the first and only position that I have applied for in the past 3 years.  After much contemplating, Bryan and I decided that this would be the best for all of us.  I'm excited that my commute will only be about 15 minutes,  I will continue to be part time, I get vacation the first year, and they are extremely flexible. This position works out perfect with my schooling as they are willing to work around my 2nd and 4th year internships.  This is also a job share position until the lady who has held this position for the past 37 years decides to retire. They estimate that she will want to remain employed for the next 3 years which will take me through graduation from grad school, at which time when she retires, I will take on the full time position.

I truly believe that God had plans for considering how well this all worked out!  I'm very sad and emotional to be leaving a lot of great people but thank God for Facebook and being reasonably close so that I can remain in contact with all the great people that I have met over the past 3 years!

My last day with Wood County will be on June 25.  I will start my new position on July 1!  I'm very excited to be working with Developmentally and Physically Disabled kiddos and their families.  I have so much to learn  but I'm very excited for these changes!

Landscaping Complete

Bryan and I had great intentions of redoing our mulch every year since we completed our landscaping a few years ago but that plan failed miserably when we completely lost track of time last summer and it never got done. So this year, our mulch was looking pretty bad. Since the weather has not been cooperating lately with all the rain, today was actually one of the first nice days that we have had free time to get it done. Bless his heart, Bryan was able to get the majority of it done before I even got home from work today!

The kids were big helpers today...

Our ugly mulch before...sad, I know!

Isn't she a little diva!

After...much better!  (Now we just need to work on the lawn :)

Now we are being completely unhealthy and ordering in Chinese for dinner!  There was no way that either of us were going to cook after today!  One more thing checked off the summer To Do list, now we only have 3 pages left of To Do items...just kidding!

Fun with Friends

After a cool, breezy morning, it actually turned into a warm, sunny afternoon. I woke up early and snuck off to church before the kids woke up!  There was a bunch of rhubarb available for people to take at church this morning so I picked up a few stalks.  While the kids napped, I made a rhubarb dessert which turned out very good.

We invited our friends over for a cookout so while the guys cooked us dinner, us girls watched the kids play outside!  They made quite the fort in the jungle gym!

Playing dress up also seems to be the most fun at our house these days!

Bryleigh just loves all the attention on her so she didn't waste any time showing us all her awesome dance moves! (Don't mind Bryleigh's comment at the end of the video,  I'm not quite sure what she was getting at there! lol)

We had a fun afternoon but now it is back to reality tomorrow!
