What a whirlwind of a week it has been. My days all seem to be running together now! After lots of nail biting, a bit of frustration, and some quick work on the bank's part, we were able to close on our home late last Friday. There were about 3 times during that day that we were told that it was most likely not going to go through and we would have to wait until this week. I think all of my nails were chewed off by the end of the day. All I wanted was to be able to spend my weekend painting since I only have a few more free weekends before I start school again. But it all worked out and we officially got the keys on Friday evening!
We got started painting on Saturday morning and spent the next two days painting into the early morning hours. What started as only painting a few rooms turned into paining the majority of the house. I had big plans to color match most of the homes colors but unfortunately it did not work out as planned so each of the colors was just a bit different then the wall colors which resulted in us paining all of the rooms we only planned to do touch up's on. All of the paining is finally done (for now!) and I'm loving it, but at painting time, I was not a big fan :)
After the painting was accomplished, the demolition began! We are completely gutting the kitchen and starting from scratch. We are making a new wall to make the kitchen larger and opening up a doorway to allow it to flow into the dining room.. Our cabinets are currently being built! We are also redoing the master bathroom too! I can't wait to until all of the remodeling is done and we get to enjoy the finished products!
I thought painting was bad but then I had the wonderful task of removing wall paper from the kitchn walls. Talk about a big pain in the butt. I hope I never have to look at wall paper again! Good thing I had good wall paper rippers and scrapers to help me out!
We are making good progress and hopefully this week the contractor can get in to start the fun work!
I'm loving that the kids are so excited to get into our new home that they cannot stop talking about it! We also have awesome neighbors with young kids that Christian and Bryleigh get along great with. We are very sad that they are actually renting and the house finally sold so we only have 1 more month with them :(
Our task this weekend is to get our pods unloaded and start organizing (As much as we can with all of the remodeling going on!)
