Fun Happenings

How is that we are almost at the end of June?!? Didn't the month just begin?  It really has been a month of fun!  The weather has been an equal mix of rain and sunshine, but we have been taking full advantage of the hot and humid weather!

I have been craving frozen yogurt on a very regular basis, so we have taken quite a few trips to Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt Shop...who cares that it is 20 minutes away!

We also found the slip and slide in the garage and decided that it would be a fun afternoon activity!  It kept the kids cool and entertained!

Yesterday, we took a spontaneous trip to the Dells. Although it wasn't quite warm enough for a waterpark, we decided to go to the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory Museum.  Although it looks small, looks can be deceiving.  We spent 3.5 hours there and didn't even get to try a lot of the exhibits!!

I have lots more to share about our exciting happenings later but my camera is currently being repaired so I don't have all of my pictures! I sure miss my camera!

Special Day

Yesterday was a much anticipated day for our family!  After almost a year of court proceedings, my niece is finally adopted! There was much frustration throughout the process and at times, we didn't know if it would be final but it is! My brother in law, Drew, adopted my niece, Denali! You might remember our Celebration of Sorts back in April. Well this was because the adoption was supposed to be final that week.  We celebrated anyways but now we can celebrate again!   It takes a special person to love and accept a child as their own but I couldn't think of a better dad than Drew! Denali is so excited that she can finally call herself Denali Urban!

What an emotional but exciting day! We love you Denali Urban!!!

Crazy Busy Weekend

I'm still trying to recover from our eventful weekend!  We had lots of fun activities planned for the weekend in addition to my last Saturday of class!  I can officially say that I've completed my 2nd (and hardest) year in graduate school!  Only 2 more years to go!  It is such a relief to have submitted my final paper and have nothing to worry about except what I am going to go to do with my homework free weeknights and weekends!!! I'm loving life right now!

So Saturday after my LAST class, my mom and I went shopping in the Dells. Later on, Bryan, the kiddos, and my in laws met us at the Big Sky Drive in Theater in the Dells so we could watch "How to Train your Dragon 2".

We decided to leave after the first movie because us "old" folks are not able to stay up until 3am anymore.  We didn't get home until after midnight even with leaving after the first movie!

It was definitely hard to get up on Sunday morning, but I forced myself out of bed so that we could take the kids to our local Cranberry Blossom Festival Parade. The weather was beautiful for a parade!

Nice face Christian!

True sibling behavior right here!

After the parade, Grandma and Grandpa decided that we should go to the Zor Shrine Circus Variety Show that was in town!  Thankfully the parade handed out coupons for free children's tickets because it sure was expensive!!!!

The show was over 2 hours long and was fun to watch!  But holy cow do they have a way to nickel and dime you to death. They get the kids all excited about a magic trick and then say, line up here for your magic deck of cards to take home....For only $5.  I felt so bad for the kids but there was no way that I was buying everything that they had to offer there.  But of course, Grandma and Grandpa came to the rescue and purchased light up swords!

And I also learned 3 important lessons while at the circus...1. Do not sit in the front row.  2. Do not volunteer your children for activities because they will pick you instead  and 3) Do not wear a sundress to a circus show because they will pick you to go on stage and make you do activities that expose your entire underside if you do not hold your dress in the right position. ( I have to say that #3 is the most important lesson of all!!  It was so embarrassing and all I could think of was...this is a family friendly show and these kids are getting quite the show!  Thankfully, Bryan said that you could not see my under drawers. Bryan took a video but I'm too scared to look at it for fear of what I might see!  I intentionally shortened the act by "falling" so that I could exit the stage and preposition my dress the way it should be!

But all in all, we have had the most fun in a single weekend than I can ever remember!

Waterpark Fun

June is always a fun month for us. Summer is finally here and we are able to be outside every day! For the past several years, Mount Olympus Water and Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells offers free water park passes through the month of June. We always try to incorporate a day into our schedule to go.  I have a lot more free time lately but unfortunately, the weather has not wanted to cooperate with my schedule.  We were hopeful to use our free water park tickets this week but the weatherman called for rain and storms everyday. Of course, Tuesday turned out to be beautiful but we didn't have time to get everyone ready to go in such short notice. So today, we woke up and it was cloudy and misting. The weather report looked as if it might get sunny in the afternoon but it didn't look promising. We decided that we would give it a shot and worse case scenario, we could take the kids to some indoor attractions.  So what do you know, we got to the Dells around noon and we arrived to lots of sun and heat!!!!

We sure were blessed with  beautiful day to enjoy spending time with each other!  I love summer fun days like today!  The kids played so well together and I enjoyed being able to relax and not have a care in the world!  Love my little sun tanned beauties!!!!!
